Dark skies and a long integration time are necessary for imaging dark nebulae like this. The conditions weren’t perfect, but I did manage to keep 10 hours of data (I threw away 6 hours taken with the LPS filter in place on my first night – that’s what you get when you’re used to image in lightpolluted skies…)

I might redo this some time in the future, I never dared to start such a project, as it is also a matter of processing skills to show the right amount of detail.
